The Manfrotto 340 Elbow bracket is a very useful tool for your tripod for rapidly switching shooting positions from horizontal to vertical. The bracket has a rotation holding peg that can be easily adjusted to fit several different camera body configurations.I currently own a Nikon D700 with the MB-D10 battery grip and setting up the 340 elbow bracket is quick and easy. The 340 elbow bracketalso works quite well with the Manfrotto 488RC0 MIDI ball head I have on my tripod. The 488RC0 ball head is designed to allow you to quickly move the camera body into a vertical position but doing so without using the 340 elbow bracket moves the weight of the camera body and lens off the center of the tripod. In general if you are a portrait or landscape photographer who is constantly switching your camera for horizontal to vertical and own a tripod with a Manfrotto head that has the RC0 quick mount systemthis option is for you.
