(More customer reviews)Seems like it will be a nice bracket when I go to use it in about 3 days at a wedding.
I didn't realize that I had to buy another part to mount the camera on in addition to the platform on the Stroboframe itself, an "anti twist plate".That part was about $14 or so.Not bad. They do however include a cork piece that essentially does the same thing although not as well and a heavy camera will twist on the platform in which case you will need the metal anti twist plate so you might as well order it already when you get the Stroboframe.
What frustrated me the most (and hence the 4 rating) is when I did get the anti-twist plate and mounted it to the Stroboframe camera platform, the holes didn't line up properly when I attempted to put the camera, platform and anti-twist plate all together.Specifically, the camera body tripod hole was "up" about 1/8 inch or so from where the pre-drilled Stroboframe platform hole was.So being 3 days out from a wedding, I don't have time to write the company or return the bracket to them and wait while they look at the error.I actually had to get a drill and bore a new hole higher up on the platform slot.It wasn't hard for me to do necessarily but I shouldn't have had to do it at all.I think I probably voided my 5 year warranty also in doing so since I altered the frame.I'll be contacting the company about all of it.
To make this Bracket even better, there should be 2 extra holes drilled in it.These holes would be used to store two screws they provide to mount your camera and flash on the bracket when they are not in use.Basically, if you are not using your camera and flash on the bracket, these screws will have to be stored somewhere and eventually you will lose at least one of them.If there were holes on the bracket you could screw them into it and leave them there for the next time you use the Stroboframe.
Another thing I noticed right away is the bracket will have a little forward give if you have a camera with a telephoto zoom mounted on it.My telephoto is 2 lbs and the weight does bend the Stroboframe platform "down" a slight bit.Not a permanent bend but a "flex" downward slightly. So the bracket will have some give too it and not be hard rigid when holding a heavier camera.I'm using a Canon Rebel with a 70-200mm f4.0.
Ultimately, I like the frame and the concept of it.A great idea.I think after all my altering it will be a great tool for my photography.
